The idea that one MBA, degree, course, retreat, book, article, conversation, quote, or impromptu but pivotal pat on the shoulder by your childhood idol is going to change your life is out.

Sure, such things can and do help. But the real change comes from the tiny, frequent, everyday, seemingly non-significant actions, non-actions, and other incremental shifts in behavior.

This is where RE:MIND comes in.

RE:MIND is a set of weekly reminders that help you make sense of the mental landscape and effortlessly navigate the modern world.

Think of it as a letter from your higher self. Or a letter from your lower self pretending to be your higher self. Or maybe from no-self. Basically, it’s mindfulness training that doesn’t take itself too seriously, delivered as a few cool things I’ve seen/heard/written about during the week.

Recalibrate your mind and inbox for greater peace, clarity, and sanity — one reminder at a time.

Sounds alright, but who the heck are you?

I’m Joe Hunt — just another lost millennial who can’t hold down a proper job and has discovered he can make a living writing stuff on the internet.

Seriously, though, I’m a freelance writer, Master’s student of Mindfulness, traveler, and a lover of doing nothing.

As a cog in and consumer of the content machine that is the internet, I feel I’ve written and consumed enough information — mostly useless — to last several lifetimes. Like many people my age, I feel my brain has long turned to mush from hours of mindless scrolling and my body has turned into cement from hours of mindless sitting.

Partly due to this and partly due to depression, anxiety, confusion and general existential angst about life and the world, I got interested in Buddhism several years ago. After finding what I was looking for, now I’m training to be a instructor of zen mindfulness, studying a Master’s degree in Mindfulness-based Approaches, and spending most of my days meditating in robes on mountain tops while going weeks without food or sleep or any sort of pleasure (okay, maybe not the last one).

If you haven’t noticed already, I like Eastern philosophy. In fact, it’s safe to say that it saved my life. More than that, it opened me up to see and live in a much freer, fuller, and alive way.

This is why I started RE:MIND. RE:MIND is an attempt to share what I’m learning and to bridge the gap between ancient Eastern teachings and modern life. It’s an exploration of the human condition in the digital world. Delivered directly to that magical place we call the inbox, two or three times a month.

I hope you join me!
