To anyone interested in the group mindfulness meditation practice, apologies for not getting started today. I was on a retreat at the weekend and had less access (and desire) to connect to the internet than I had planned.
The good news is everything is still going ahead and the first group session is scheduled for tomorrow morning at 8am Eastern Time.
There will be a brief explanation of how things work then we will get straight into the practice. Zoom caps the time limit at 40 minutes, so 20 minutes practice and 5 or 10 minutes either side for blabbing should do the trick.
Whether you have twenty years of meditation experience or twenty seconds, everyone is welcome. We will be practicing the completely secular practice of mindfulness meditation, and there will be absolutely zero talk of rainbows, eternal bliss, and pixie dust (if I can help it).
Rather than both morning and afternoon, I’m going to start with one morning practice each week day for now and see how we go. Planning isn’t my strong point. Hence the reason (at least one of the reasons) why I’m starting a group practice!
You can join with or without your video. All I will ask is that you introduce yourself in the chat before we get started and leave a comment before you leave. Also, make sure you have something to sit on (cushions, zafu, or chair) and are in a quiet place where you won’t be interrupted. Pets are welcome.
Most of all, come with the intention of being fully focused on the practice. Although we are practicing virtually with each other, let’s try uphold the same level of intention and respect as we would in a physical setting. I.e. No pyjamas or weird stuff.

Joe, sounds like they will be great sessions...unfortunately 5 a.m. PST is a bit too early for me - but best wishes to you. I like all the points you made about what makes a good on-line meditation.
